Ben Rice, Cody Bellinger, Jazz Chisholm Jr., Ryan McMahon and Austin Wells give the Yankees several pull-side paths against a right-hander. McMahon is especially well matched to the park’s short right-field boundary, while Jasson Domínguez provides cover with Trent Grisham sidelined by a hamstring strain.
Sugano must live on the edges all night
Tomoyuki Sugano is listed to start for the Rockies on six full rest days. His last outing featured steady strike-throwing and no home-run damage, the familiar blueprint for a starter who wins with command, sequencing and changing eye levels rather than raw power.
That plan becomes delicate against a patient Yankees order packed with left-handed pull hitters. Miss over the inner half and the park gets small in a hurry; nibble too much and New York can raise the pitch count before Colorado reaches a recently unreliable relief bridge.
